Weekend Stack of Maps 4: This Heat Huh?
A new weekend, a new stack of maps. One, in particular really visualizes the current heat wave hitting the western USA.
It’s going to be 99 degrees in Portland on Monday. Which might not sound like all that much to some of you who live in Arizona, or elsewhere in the southern USA, but that’s real hot up here. Mostly because most of us don’t have air conditioning. Yikes! Alright here’s your weekend stack of maps.
Hot Hot Heat
A great way to visualize what’s happening in the USA right now. California and Arizona look particularly miserable.
Portland’s Year of Protest
We’ve had a pretty crazy year here in Portland and I enjoyed this map that celebrated it a bit in a “Where’s Waldo” style also known as a Wimmelbilder map.
California Voter Shift
The last time I lived in California the state just voted to make gay marriage illegal again. So it’s kind of nice to see that since then the state has really shifted to the left. It’s like they collectively realized that they made an oopsie.
How Much Do You Drink?
Wisconsin… 😨
A Percent of the Population
Each color represents a single percent of the world’s population. I enjoy a good population distribution and density map. This is just another way to look at it. I’m not sure Antarctica needed to be included though.
